The Molly Fund
(2010-)
I laid the groundwork for The Molly Fund when the 5-year-old daughter of close friends, Molly, was diagnosed with anaplastic large cell Lymphoma. Knowing they had extensive bills heading their way, I began raising money and soliciting donations through a web site I built for them.
After Molly passed away, her parents decided to keep the momentum we've generated by giving back to other families who they saw struggling with simple things, like paying for parking at Boston Children's Hospital or even paying for the gas to get there. So, we launched The Molly Fund.
We're a small, but very effective organization that focuses on raising money through donations, selling merchandise, and by hosting surf and snowboard events each year that are focused not only on raising money, but also on building community.
BUILDING COMMUNITY
As a part-time effort for everyone involved, the Molly Fund has been tremendously effective raising over $300,000, with nearly 100% donated other than funding production costs for merchandise and events. We've partnered with the Jimmy Fund at Boston Children's Hospital and deliver our funds there.
